Säffle

Idyllic Säffle is located by Lake Vänern along the E45 motorway between Trollhättan and Vänersborg in the direction of Karlstad. In the age of King Gustav I, this was an important trading post, but the city has an even longer history. If you visit Värmland and Säffle, you can experience several monuments from the Viking Age and the Bronze Age, the most famous of which are the rock carvings of Ulvudden and the Kungshögen barrows in Nysäter a little outside town as well as Olof Trätälja’s barrow at the old water tower in Säffle.
