About 45 km northeast of Kiruna lies Esrange Space Centre, a world-class facility for space and atmospheric research. From here, rockets are launched into the Arctic sky several times a year as part of international scientific missions.
At the Esrange Visitor Centre, you can learn more about the research and history of European space exploration. The unstaffed exhibition just outside the gates offers an engaging glimpse into how Kiruna became one of the world’s northernmost space hubs.
